We are a 501(c)3 non profit which makes your charitable contributions tax deductible. Your donations have kept us serving Dumont since 1937. Dumont Volunteer Ambulance Corps exists as a non-profit corporation integrated with but independant of the town. Our operations are funded by private donations.

Dumont VAC answers over one thousand emergency aid calls a year.  That's over 4000 man-hours directly on calls.  And for every man-hour on the ambulance, there's at least ten times that spent in training, maintenance, administration and a slew of other tasks necessary to provide the residents of Dumont the very best emergency medical care possible.

Why do we dedicate so much time to this task? Because we love helping our neighbors and want to keep Dumont a great place to live and call home. All of our hard work is for nothing if we can't keep the lights on and the ambulances on the road.

Did you know that an ambulance costs nearly a quarter million dollars?  Dumont VAC has two of them and they require regular maintenance and service to be ready to respond at a moment's notice.  Not to mention the yearly set aside we budget for their eventual replacement (approximately every 10-15 years).  And in addition to the ambulances themselves, we have stretchers, stair chairs, splints, rescue equipment, oxygen, medications, first aid supplies, defibrillators, automated chest compression devices, suction devices, and the list goes on and on.  

EMS (Emergency Medical Services) is expensive to provide, but we do everything possible to not pass that cost on to Dumont residents.  We do NOT bill for our services and will only engage a local ALS unit (that does, unfortunately, bill for their services) if we deem it necessary for the wellbeing of our patient.
